Overview

Course focus

Year 12 introduces AS Level Physics 9702 and builds the mathematical, practical, and conceptual base for the full course. Side A focuses on measurement, motion, forces, and energy, while Side B develops materials, waves, electricity, circuits, and particle physics.

The main goal this year is to become more fluent with multi-step calculations, structured written explanations, and practical analysis. You should start to see the course as a set of linked models rather than isolated chapters, especially when graphs, experiments, and equations describe the same physical situation.

Side A builds AS mechanics and energy through measurement, kinematics, dynamics, pressure, momentum, and work-energy-power.

Side B develops materials, waves, superposition, electricity, D.C. circuits, and particle physics alongside the Side A work.

Expect longer calculations, more practical analysis, and more careful use of graphs, uncertainties, and mathematical models.
